The IndiEarth XChange Music Festival 2016 features independent artists from across the musical spectrum, hailing from around India and from different corners of the world. Boasting a vividly diverse selection of genres, this year's programming showcases Classical, folk, roots, world, alternative and electronica artists.

Nucleya

Electronic / Dubstep

One of the early proponents of the now-popular genre of Dubstep in India, Nucleya has built on that start to emerge as one of the most exciting, experimental and engaging producers in the Indian scene in the past five years. He has made his mark as an Indian dance music producer, focussing on sounds and textures that are Indian in nature but international in appeal. His new album “BASS Rani” explores regional sounds and cements Nucleya’s position as the Indian leader in the ‘global bass’ movement.

Aver

Fusion

Aver is an 9-piece Indian contemporary fusion-style band formed in 2015 and based in Chennai. Their creativity, ability to draw on Arabic, ancient Indian (Classical, folk) as well as more modern genres in a variety of languages makes their sound unique. Their sound also includes instruments like the Hang drum and Oud.

Pratik & Vinayak

Vinayak Netke composes, arranges, and plays the tabla for his Balkan Indian fusion band, Zamee, and has also been formally trained in vocal music. He made his debut as a composer with two devotional albums, Aadi Pujya and Kalidas’s Meghdoot, after which he composed music for the very spunky MTV Stay Raw campaign and TV commercials like Polo and Henko. Pratik Shrivastava was born into a family of musicians, and initiated into the art of playing the Sarod at the age of six by his grandfather Pandit Rabi Chakraborty. Pratik has performed around the world and received several scholarships for his musical prowess.

Miss V (live) Ft. Chaitanya Bhaidkar

Vasuda is all set to launch her new live act “Miss V” in which she plans to showcase the electronic production side of her musicality. She has since bridged the worlds of Indian classical and folk with Western contemporary music, creating a sound which she believes has ample scope to evolve in the future. Her debut album ‘Attuned Spirits’ which featured Indian raag elements with rock was one the country’s’ first ever crowd funded music projects. Vasuda loves to experiment with new genres and sounds, and her experiments led her to become a self-taught live looping electronic artist.

Vidya Shah

Trained initially in Carnatic music, Vidya Shah later received guidance in Khayal from Shubha Mudgal and Thumri, Dadra and Ghazal Gayaki from Shanti Hiranand. A popular performer, Vidya has also composed and recorded for several projects with releases on both international and Indian labels. She has performed at several international forums including the Kennedy Centre in Washington DC, Humbolt Forum in Berlin, and at the Kala Utsav in Singapore, and is Director of the project Women on Record, celebrating music of women in the Gramophone era. She is also a recipient of the Charles Wallace Award from the British Council.

Organic Bananas are an alternative band from the Region Centre in France who combine live elements with modern electronic music. Without using computers or samples, their mixes and the act’s sound is all created live. Their influences include Sonic Youth, Cabaret Contemporain, Kraftwerk and AC-DC.

He is currently working on a solo album, a collection of intimate songs that explore relationships both current and past.

Gliding Arc - Aditya Balani

Gliding Arc is Aditya Balani's cinematic pop music avtar. A multi-faceted singer-songwriter, guitarist and music producer, he has been featured on BBC Asia Beats, MTV Coke Studio, Pepsi MTV Indies, and BBC Radio to name a few. His latest EP Constants and Variables features organic songwriting and lush musical arrangements, won him Best Pop Artist at the Radio City Freedom Awards ’15 and has been listed among the Top 10 EP’s of 2015 by Rolling Stone India.

An identity to be found somewhere between a Creole cabin roof and the red bricks of Brooklyn.

The band cites Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath as a major inspiration for their sound - a blend of Psychedelia, Punk, Pop, Blues and Rock. Their sets comprises of heavily distorted Guitar, Bass and Drums.

Aqua Dominatrix

Aqua Dominatrix is producer Akshay Rajpurohit’s pseudonym for an electronic avatarcomprising of free floating Synth­Pop, verging on Techno. Akshay is also a part of popular metal bands Scribe and Pangea. Aqua Dominatrix sees him leap out of his comfort zone into a world of analog synthesis. His debut release is a 12­ track album called ‘Sadomist’, and his live performances range from nu-disco infused synthpop to dark techno and acid.
